Punjab Kings put up a fight, scoring 245, but it wasn’t enough against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Shreyas Iyer hit 82 off 36 balls, but SRH’s openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head tore apart the PBKS bowlers,
putting on 171 for the first wicket. Abhishek’s 141 off 55 balls sealed the win for SRH with nine balls to spare.
After the game, Iyer said, “We could have taken two great catches. Abhishek was a bit lucky,
but he played a great innings.” He admitted that PBKS didn’t bowl well and that SRH’s opening stand was “fantastic.”
Dropped Catches Proved Costly
Iyer said missed chances hurt PBKS. “Catches win you matches, and we fell short there.”
He felt his rotation could have been better. Abhishek’s knock was one of the best he’s seen in the IPL.
Liam Livingstone’s injury was a big blow, as he can pick up quick wickets. Iyer said,
“Other bowlers can win matches too, so no excuses.” PBKS thought 230 was a good score,
but SRH made it look easy.
Abhishek and Head made the 246 target look small.
They added 171 for the first wicket, and Abhishek kept going after Head got out at 12.2 overs.
He hit his hundred off 40 balls and finished with 141 off 55 balls.
That’s the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in IPL history.
