The BCCI official further said, ‘The board will send Patidar for surgery. He though he is not a central contracting player. But he is an objective player. We want them to get better treatment. Rajat Patidar stepped into the spotlight in IPL 2022 by playing a brilliant century in the playoff match for RCB. After this he also performed well in domestic cricket. Patidar was in rehab at NCS before the decision was made to send him into surgery.

During this, the BCCI said that Shreyas Iyer will have an operation next week. The Cricket Board of Control in India said in a statement: ‘Shreyas Iyer has to undergo lower back surgery next week. He will be under the supervision of a surgeon for two weeks and then he will return to the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore, for rehabilitation. Shreyas Iyer was injured during the Test series against Australia. After which he failed to play in the limited overs series against the Kangaroo team. Previously, he had ignored BCCI and NCA advice to have surgery. He believed that if he had surgery, he would be ruled out of the 50+ World Cup, including the ICC World Test Championship final. Because it will take 5-6 months for him to fully recover from a back injury.
