Washington: A terrible shooting incident has occurred in the American state of California during the Lunar New Year.
According to foreign media reports, the incident took place in the city of Los Angeles where people gathered in Monterey Park for the Chinese New Year celebration.
A ceremony was going on in the park to mark the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year, in which a large number of children and women were also participating, when suddenly a gunman entered the park and opened fire indiscriminately, killing 10 people and injuring many others.
According to the eyewitnesses, panic spread among the people due to the firing and they took refuge in nearby shops to save their lives.

According to the authorities, the identity of the attacker and the details of the dead have not yet been revealed, however, according to some media reports, the majority of the dead are Asians.
The bodies of those killed in the attack are undergoing necessary treatment, while the injured have been shifted to the hospital for immediate medical assistance.
Note that the Chinese calendar begins on the day after December 21st when the second new moon rises and usually falls between January 21st and February 20th.
