Shock for South Africa ahead of T20 series against India, Lungi Ngidi ruled out of the entire series

Just before the start of the T20 series between India and South Africa, the Proteas team suffered a major blow. The team’s main fast bowler, Lungi Ngidi, has been ruled out of the entire series. Lungi Ngidi was dropped from the Proteas squad as he was unable to fully recover from the injury. Beuron Hendricks has been added to the team in his place.

Lungi Ngidi was ruled out of the T20 series due to a left ankle injury. Now he will try to get fit before the Test series against India.

33-year-old Byron Hendricks, who joined the South African team following Lungi Ngidi’s exclusion, will return to international cricket after more than two years. He last played for the Proteas team in July 2021. This left-arm fast bowler has played one Test, eight ODIs and 19 T20 International matches so far. Hendricks’ record in T20 International was average. He has taken 25 wickets in 19 matches, for a bowling average of 25. However, he has also completed runs at an save rate of 9.19 during this period.

South Africa also rested their key bowler Kagiso Rabada in the T20 series against India. Now with Lungi Ngidi out, the Proteas fast bowling attack will look a bit weak. Now the responsibility of the fast bowling attack in this team lies with Gerald Coetzee, Nandre Berger, Otniel Bartman and Lizard Williams. These four fast bowlers have little experience in international cricket.

The three-match T20 series between India and South Africa begins on December 10. The first game will be played in Durban. After that, the T20 matches will take place on December 12th in Gkeberha and December 14th in Johannesburg. Two days later, a three-match ODI series will be played between the two teams, running from December 17 to 21. Starting December 26, these teams will compete in a two-match Test series.
