To save her 5-year-old son, a mother fought with her bare hands with a puma, this Thursday in California.
The facts took place this Thursday, August 26, in Calabasas, California (United States). The animal, weighing around 30 kilograms, attacked the little boy while he was playing near his home. He caught it then “dragged it for about forty meters”, said this Saturday the captain Patrick Foy, spokesman for the Californian authorities, in remarks reported by the Guardian.
It was then that the courageous mother intervened. While at home, she heard a noise outside and went out to see what was going on. “She ran out of the house and started punching and hitting the puma with her bare hands, to get him away from her son,” said Patrick Foy. “The real hero of this story is the mother, because she absolutely saved her son’s life,” he said.
Once the animal was removed, the parents took their son to the hospital, where they were able to inform the police. The latter then went on site, accompanied by an agent specializing in wild animals. On the spot, the latter flushed out the puma, lurking in the bushes, “ears back and whistling aggressively” towards him.
The puma was shot
“Due to his behavior and the proximity of the attack, the guard believed he was probably the puma responsible, and to protect public safety he shot and killed him on the spot,” he said. the wildlife department said in a statement.
DNA analyzes then confirmed that the animal was indeed the one that had attacked the young child a few minutes earlier. The latter, seriously injured to the head and upper chest, is in stable condition in hospital.
