Shahrukh Khan Declines Role in Dinesh Vijan’s ‘Chamunda’
Shahrukh Khan, a prominent figure in Bollywood, has reportedly turned down an offer to star in Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming film ‘Chamunda’. The movie, set to release in 2026, was expected to feature Khan alongside Alia Bhatt. According to sources, Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik had envisioned Khan as part of their horror-comedy universe, but the actor has expressed no interest in joining the franchise.
Reasons Behind Shahrukh’s Rejection
Amar Kaushik had initially planned to cast Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in ‘Chamunda’. However, Khan declined the offer, citing his desire to create a new and original project rather than joining an existing universe. As per Bollywood Hungama, Khan has asked Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik to come up with a novel concept that has never been explored before. The duo is currently searching for a new title for the film, hoping to collaborate with Khan in the near future.
Fans Eager to See Shahrukh in a Horror-Comedy
Despite Shahrukh Khan’s rejection, fans are still enthusiastic about the possibility of seeing him in a horror-comedy film. The prospect of Khan teaming up with actors like Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Kiara Advani, Alia Bhatt, and Pankaj Tripathi has generated significant excitement among fans.

Dinesh Vijan launched his horror-comedy universe in 2018 with the film ‘Stree’, which achieved massive success at the box office. The franchise has since produced films like ‘Bhediya’, ‘Munjya’, and ‘Stree 2’, all of which have received a positive response from audiences. Encouraged by this success, Dinesh Vijan has announced plans to produce eight new horror-comedy films under his banner Maddock Films between 2025 and 2028.
