Sevilla plays Valencia with Rafa Mir

Valencia is looking to get the services of striker Rafa Mir, who has become the number one target for the Mestalla club. Valencia have been in contact with the player, but it was only last Thursday that a formal offer was presented. The situation has become more urgent for the Valencian team, especially after ruling out Marcos André and Cavani, and with the injury to Alberto Marí, who was destined to promote to the first team.

Valencia intends to obtain the transfer of Rafa Mir, with a purchase option, and is willing to assume the entirety of his record, which would be one of the highest in the squad, once Cavani and Castillejo part ways. However, Sevilla also has its demands and demands that Valencia contribute the proportional part of the player’s amortization. Monchi, Sevilla’s sports director, signed Mir in 2021 for around 15 million euros, and now, Víctor Orta is looking to recover part of that investment.

Lim does not want to put a single euro

The main obstacle to this operation is the refusal of Peter Lim, Valencia’s top shareholder, to accept the agreement as it is. The Valencian club is exploring alternative formulas to achieve the signing, such as the possibility of including the amortization in the future purchase agreement or establishing economic tranches based on specific variables.

The weather also plays a crucial role, as Valencia kicks off their season on August 11 against Sevilla. However, the Andalusian team will not return from their tour of the United States and Mexico until August 7. Unless there is a tempting offer for Sevilla, the player is unlikely to return early.
