Seventh win of the season for Jasper Philipsen

Belgian Jasper Philipsen, from Alpecin-Fenix, won the 58 Eschborn-Frankfurt on Sunday, a UCI World Tour event held over 187.4 kilometers, after beating German John Degenkolb (Lotto Soudal) and Norwegian Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) in the sprint.

This is the seventh victory of the season for Philipsen, who two days ago was the best in the Belgian Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen and in mid-August he won two stages of the Vuelta a España. In the final meters he imposed his pedal stroke before the rest of the arrivals who opted for victory.

As it happened in the last edition, in 2019, Degenkolb and Kristoff finished second and third. The German was aiming for his second victory in Frankfurt (he won in 2011), while Kristoff was looking for the fifth after the four in a row he achieved between 2014 and 2018 (it was not played in 2015).
