Sergio Moro, the exfical and presidential candidate of Brazil has covid

The former judge and candidate for the Presidency of Brazil Sergio Moro confirmed this Friday that he was infected by covid-19 and indicated that he will remain isolated, although he claimed to have no symptoms.

"I tested positive for covid. Since I had taken all three doses of the vaccine, I am symptom-free. I will comply with the isolation protocols, so some appointments will have to be rescheduled. Everyone’s health, always first. Take care!", was the message posted by Moro on Twitter this Friday.

Moro is pointed out by analysts as the possible centrist candidate who can break the current polarization in Brazil between Jair Bolsonaro, the leader of the extreme right who would aspire to be re-elected, and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the historic leader of the left, who leads all polls.

Lula leads the intention to vote for the presidential elections in Brazil, in all the polls, with a wide advantage over the current Brazilian president, his strongest contender.

According to the latest polls carried out in the country last December, the union leader, who commanded the South American power between 2003 and 2010, would have 42.8% of the favoritism, followed by the far-right leader, with 25.6% of the votes.

Lula, who has not yet made his candidacy official, was prevented from participating in the 2018 elections, in which Bolsonaro won, after being convicted of corruption by then-judge Moro, who left the judiciary to be Bolsonaro’s Minister of Justice. , with whom he ended up feuding.

After spending 580 days behind bars for the sentence of the former judge, the progressive leader regained his freedom and his convictions were annulled by the justice system for reasons of competence and for considering that Moro’s action was partial, so now they will have to start from scratch in a new court.

The former judge, for his part, has not hidden his political desires and in the electoral contest he is seen as a central option for the country, in which other politicians are also seeking space.

In the December polls, Moro was in third place for the presidential elections with 8.9% of the votes, followed by Ciro Gomes, who was also a candidate in 2018, with 4.9% of the support, and Joao Doria, current governor of Sao Paulo, in fourth place, with 1.8% of favoritism.
