Sergio Mantecón revalidates his title of Spanish XCM champion

Sunday May 21 will remain marked in the history of SCOTT CALA BANDIDA. After a spectacular journey of 83 km, 2,200 meters of positive slope and 3 hours and a half, Sergio Mantecón got the XCM Spanish Champion jersey again.

The best riders on the national scene met this Sunday in Jerez de los Caballeros to compete in the Spanish XCM Championship, with the representation by the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team of Sergio Mantecón, Jose María Sánchez, Francesc Guerra and Miquel Faús.

A test that has been brought forward a few months to be able to be held within the Templario Marathon and that was very close from the beginning. A large group of runners rode a large part of the race together, among them Mantecón, Jose María Sánchez and Francesc Guerra, but with five kilometers to go, a brilliant attack from Sergio led him to win the race and revalidate the title.

Mantecón himself valued his second Spanish champion title in the XCM class. “I am super happy to have been able to defend the title. For me, and for the team, it was one of the objectives of the year and we have achieved it. This is thanks to the work behind it, we’ve been working hard all week reconnoitering the terrain. It has not been an easy race. We’ve had a pretty tough week since I’ve had a bad cold, but we’ve come out very motivated and we’ve gone all out. Each rider has played his cards and luckily I was able to finish off the job and get the title ”
