Sergio Higuita leaves the top 10, Nairo goes up and Egan is still far

The 2023 season is already progressing. After the first competitions of the year, the UCI established the world ranking with several changes in terms of Colombian riders, taking into account the last 52 weeks. Sergio Higuita continues to be the best of ours, ranking 11th with 2,027 points; while, Egan is still very far from the top positions. Nairo, although he continues without a team, managed to climb one position after the Nationals on the road in which he added 60 points for his podium.

Colombian cycling seeks to be the protagonist again in 2023, Although for Rigoberto Urán the future is complicated since he does not have any “good” ones, for Germán Darío Gómez, the under 23 who won the individual time trial at the Nationals, that statement is not so true, because he believes that there is talent, but there is a lack of support. For now, UCI records show that there are only two riders among the 20 best in the world out of the 89 it has on its list.

Sergio Higuita and Dani Martínez, the only ones in the world top 20
