Sergio González: “It will be special”

There are several blue and white players who will experience mixed feelings in Monday’s duel in Cartagena. One of them is Sergio González, Carthaginian by birth and who recognizes that it will be a different duel. “This is a special game for me because it’s nice to come to your city; but we have to go to win, there are no friendships that are worth. I owe myself to Tenerife and I always want the best for my club ”, he told the official media.

It is not the first time that the versatile player has played as a visitor at home. In 2019 he did it with Cadiz B, losing 1-0 and last season it was with Tenerife, drawing 0-0. “Cartagena at home is a strong and solid rival. We arrived at a good time and we are going to compete to the fullest ”, said the player who appears as a starter in the center of the defense.

“I’ve always said that I try to take advantage of opportunities when they are given to me,” Sergio said. “With the group we have, everything is much easier since we all support each other. This is one of the strengths of this team ”. In addition, he added that Tenerife is “very focused on the next game. It is going to be a tough game and we know that it is a field where it is very difficult to win. We are going to go out with everything to get the three points ”.

It will also be special for Elady Zorrilla, who rose to the Second Division as a Cartagena player. There he lived his best years, adding a total of 106 games and 36 goals. Unlike Sergio, the forward it will be the first time he has returned to what was his home for three seasons.

Although he is not part of the squad, he deserves a special mention Juan Carlos Cordero, Tenerife’s sports director who was also born in Cartagena. He is with the Blue and White expedition and it will be a duel of mixed feelings for him.

On the other hand, The squad has trained at the Pinatar Arena facilities where the presence of the blue and white Nahuel Leiva stands out, who is recovering from a knee injury. The Argentine Hispanic has joined the group, although he continues to work in a differentiated way. If everything continues as planned, in January he will be on the island facing the final stretch of his recovery.
