Spanish golfer Sergio García has hinted that he could join the LIV Tour, the new golf circuit backed by Saudi Arabiaafter assuring, following an umpire’s decision on the first day of Wells Fargo, that he is looking forward to “leaving” the PGA Tour.
“I can’t wait to get off this track. I can’t wait to get out of here, my friend. A couple more weeks and I won’t have to deal with you anymore.” He said very angry after the referee’s decision.
After hitting his tee shot into a hazard on the par-five 10th hole at TPC Potomac in the first round at Wells Fargo, the man from Castellón was able to find his ball after a search that lasted several minutes. Nevertheless, he was informed by a PGA Tour referee that he had exceeded the three-minute time limit and thus the ball was deemed lost.
Still, the Spaniard managed to save par on the hole after receiving a penalty, but not before suggesting that his time on the PGA Tour was coming to an end. Finally, he finished the day with a card of 67 hits.
Later, the PGA Tour itself confirmed that the referee at the 10th hole had not taken into account the time it took for García to cross the stream. to get to the area where his ball was thought to be, starting timing ahead of schedule.
Jason Day, early leader at Wells Fargo
The Australian Jason Day is the first leader of the Wells Fargo Championship, after finishing the first day of competitionthis Thursday, with a card of 63 strokes, seven under par, ahead of the Americans Joel Dahmen (-6) and Matthew Wolff (-5).

That same hole, on the other hand, spoiled the great performance of Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas, who had a double bogey that made him finish with 68 strokes (-2), after achieving four birdies.
