Serbian Striker Marezi Scores Career-Best 5 Goals in 13 Games

Serbian striker Marezi delivered a dramatic injury-time goal for Alverca, capping his most productive professional season and potentially reclaiming a starting position after a recent scoring drought.

The 22-year-old forward secured a 2-0 victory for the Portuguese club over Casa Pia with a powerful header in the ninth minute of added time. This late strike marked his fifth goal in 13 appearances this season, a career-best achievement since his senior debut.

At 1.98 meters (6 feet 6 inches), Marezi’s scoring resurgence comes after a period of less prolific form. His previous high was three goals across 28 games during the 2020/21 season with Partizan Belgrade.

Following his time at Partizan, Marezi moved to Almería, where he scored just one goal in the previous season (2022/23). He added two goals for Almería earlier in the current 2023/24 season before transferring to Alverca, where he has since found his scoring touch.

Despite his overall strong season, Marezi had not scored in four consecutive matches, leading to him losing his starting spot to teammate Sandro Lima. However, his decisive goal against Casa Pia is expected to boost his chances of returning to the starting lineup for Alverca’s next match against Nacional.
