Selena Gomez is absolutely glowing after her wedding to Benny Blanco. The pop superstar, who is 33, looked overcome with happiness on her big day. A source close to the couple shared with Us Weekly that Selena was a bit nervous before her first look with Benny. But, from that moment on, pure joy just shone from her.
The insider mentioned that Selena’s happiness was plain to see. She simply couldn’t stop smiling and shed happy tears all day long. After the ceremony on Saturday, September 27, the "Same Old Love" singer kept repeating how it was the best weekend and day of her life. She also talked about how much it meant to her that everyone was there to celebrate with them.
Gomez, 33, and Blanco, 37, tied the knot in Santa Barbara, California. They got engaged in December 2024, after starting to date in 2023. Their relationship grew from years of working together. Blanco even produced several songs on Gomez’s 2015 album, Revival.
The wedding festivities kicked off with a cozy rehearsal dinner on Friday, September 26, as another source told Us. The next day, Gomez and Blanco exchanged vows in front of over 150 guests. Many famous faces were in the crowd, including friends like Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, Ed Sheeran, Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Paul Rudd.
Heartfelt Toasts from Famous Friends
Taylor Swift, 35, and Ed Sheeran, 34, both gave speeches at the wedding. The source told Us that Swift’s speech was particularly touching. She spoke about how, over the years, she had seen Selena crying on the floor because of her past relationships. The "Fortnight" singer then expressed how truly happy she is that Selena has Benny now.
Sheeran’s words were equally sweet. He talked about how much his friendship with Selena means to him. He was also overjoyed that Selena had found someone so talented and wonderful, the source shared with Us.
Earlier this year, Gomez and Blanco opened up about the early days of their romance. This was when they were promoting their first collaborative album, I Said I Love You First. Gomez told Interview magazine in February that she actually liked him before he liked her. Blanco, surprisingly, had initially wanted to set her up with someone else.
"I literally didn’t know," Blanco recalled. "We were in the session, and I was like, ‘You should meet some of my friends. I can get you some dates.’ I hadn’t thought about it at all." He continued, "And then we were texting, and we decided to go to dinner the next day. I guess she thought it was a date, and I had no idea it was. The second time we hung out, our second date, I was like, ‘Wait, she likes me?’ I had no idea."
But after those initial meetups, their romance quickly blossomed. "From there, it was easy," Blanco explained. "You know, when you think you’ve met the right person, you’re like, ‘Oh my God.’ But it feels so different. As soon as we started seeing each other, I was like, ‘This is my wife.’ I was telling my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry.’"
Gomez also praised Blanco for his deep respect for her art. She especially loved how much he listened to her. "Sometimes it’s hard for me to express myself," she shared with Interview. "Most of my anxiety right now is wanting him to speak, because I feel like he’s more talented than I am in this area. It’s like working with a great filmmaker. Whether we were together or not, I think he would still have listened to everything I had to say, and was able to almost transcribe it into music, into what the feeling of what I was telling should be."
