/Spoiler alert!/
Series Secret Invasion brought a new perspective to the mcuwith the first solo appearance of Samuel L.Jackson inasmuch as Nick Fury, opening the doors to a plot full of suspense and political espionage. Despite this, some fans are not happy with some elements seen in the first episode.
The prestigious actress Cobie Smulders promised, in the past, that the series Marvel Secret Invasion would reveal a whole new depth to his character, Maria Hill. This precious and inspiring contribution to the universe mcu offers fans the chance to get a closer look at a character who served as a fairly significant supporting agent in the SHIELD from the first movie avengers and which, unfortunately, didn’t get the screen time it deserved to be explored in more depth. Except that Secret Invasion decided otherwise.
The tragedy of Maria Hill in the first episode of Secret Invasion captured the attention of the whole world. After pretending to be Nick Fury during a dark attack in Russia, the Skrull Gravik caused the death of Maria Hill. This tragedy has been interpreted by many as another example of ” fridging ‘: killing off a female character to add weight and drama to a male character’s story – Nick Fury in this case – and not necessarily to advance its own story or as a logical extension of the narrative. Fans had a mixed reception to this death, hoping it was a fake and that Maria Hill returns later in the series.
The first episode of Secret Invasion is currently available on Disney+.
