Sebastien Ogier to test the Toyota of Le Mans

There is already a date for the start of the adventure towards the 24 Hours of Le Mans by Sebastien Ogier. The seven-time world rally champion, who can claim his eighth title in Finland this weekend, will test the Toyota GR010 Hybrid on November 7 at the Shakhir Circuit in Bahrain, in the framework of the test rookies of the World Endurance. It will be a fundamental day to decide your future.

Ogier has long confessed his ambition to race at Le Mans. Once his full-time career in rallying was extended, which should have ended in 2020 but decided to extend it to 2021 due to the pandemic, the Frenchman has a goal for next year: run a program of six or seven rounds in the World Rally Championship, starting in Monte Carlo, and combine it with another in the World Endurance Championship, with 24 Hours as the maximum objective.

But it won’t be until November 7 when your real options can be valued. The test of rookies from Bahrain It will take place between the last two rounds of the World Rally Championship, Spain and Monza, and Ogier will have time to familiarize himself with the Le Mans prototype for two days in Toyota’s simulator in Cologne. If all goes well, it will be the first step towards your new future.

Ogier has competed in circuit racing before. He finished 12th in a DTM race at the wheel of a Mercedes, in tests of the Porsche Supercar or in the German GT championship, as well as having tested the Red Bull RB7 in Austria in 2017.
