Sebastián Mora finishes eighth in the European omnium

Sebastián Mora’s eighth place in the omnium has been the best result of the Spanish expedition in the penultimate day of the European Track Championship which is being disputed in the Swiss town of Grenchen.

The Castellón started his competition in the omnium with an eighth place in the scratch and being 11th in the tempo race. Already in the evening session, Mora improved his performance in an elimination that ended in seventh position to tackle the final score from eighth place. After a frantic scoring start with some of the top contenders winning lap, the race was stabilizing and in the absence of some forty laps the Castellón was moving to prevail in a sprint and win a lap that allowed him to climb positions, but still far from the podium. I would try to the end a Sebastián Mora who showed great legs in the second half of the test, although he would not be able to win again. The Vila-Real, however, again took out his competitive claw to prevail in the final sprint and add ten points that left him in eighth place with 113 points, but only four from fourth place and eleven from bronze.

The penultimate day of competition was closed by the female score, in which Tania Calvo has dropped out. Tomorrow’s day featured the participation of Helena Casas in the timed 500 meters and Eukene Larrarte in the individual pursuit. Casas finished 10th with 35,090 without making it to the final, while Larrarte set a record of 3: 43,831 to finish 17th.
