Search for Madeleine McCann in a reservoir in the Algarve

Lisbon (BLAZETRENDS).- The Portuguese Police will begin this week, at the request of the German Police, the search for the British girl Madeleine McCann in a reservoir located 50 kilometers from the tourist complex in the Algarve (south of Portugal) where she was the youngest the night of her disappearance, 16 years ago.

Specifically, the search will focus on the Arade reservoir, located 50 kilometers from Praia da Luz; a place that would have been frequented by the main suspect, the German Christian Brueckner, according to the Portuguese channel SIC Notícias.

Brueckner is currently in prison in Germany for other crimes and has a long history of crimes for sexual abuse and pedophilia, some of them in Portugal.

British police intervention

According to the Portuguese channel, the German Police wants to know if there are traces or evidence to provide new data on the disappearance of the minor.

The agents are already working this Monday to define the search area and the searches are expected to begin on Tuesday with the British Police also present.

Madeleine McCann was three years old when she was abducted from the room where she slept with her two little brothers, in a tourist complex in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, during the night of May 3, 2007, according to investigations.

Suspicions against Brueckner gained weight after he was extradited from Portugal to Germany in 2017 accused of a case of sexual abuse of minors in Greece.

The investigation of his movements showed, through the trace of his mobile phone, that he was near the holiday complex where the McCanns were staying the night that little Madeleine was kidnapped.
