Glasgow: The Scottish government has announced a referendum on independence from Britain.
According to British media, Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s first minister and leader of the Scottish National Party, has presented his roadmap for a new referendum in the Scottish Parliament on secession from Britain.

She said she would ask Prime Minister Boris Johnson for permission to hold a referendum, and would continue her plan if the British government did not allow a referendum.
Nicola Sturgeon said she would also approach the British Supreme Court, which would seek the opinion of the Supreme Court on whether a referendum could be held in Scotland against the approval of the British government.
In this regard, she said that she is also approaching the British Supreme Court, in which the opinion of the Supreme Court will be sought whether a referendum can be held in Scotland against the disapproval of the British government or not.

Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants Scotland to rejoin the European Union as an independent nation after Britain secedes from the bloc.
It may be recalled that a referendum on independence from the United Kingdom was held in 2014, in which 55% of the people voted in favor of staying with the United Kingdom while 45% opposed it.
