Schjelderup Returns to Benfica Training, Happy to Be Back

Andreas Schjelderup stepped back onto the training pitch yesterday morning. It wasn’t just another practice session at Benfica’s Seixal campus. The 21-year-old Norwegian winger had been given extra time away, tending to family matters after the sad passing of his maternal grandmother. Returning with a bright smile, the club’s official pictures showed him greeted warmly. He even shared a quiet moment and a chat with coach Bruno Lage right there on the grass.

You could almost feel his relief at being back. Schjelderup quickly shared his feelings on Instagram, posting a story with two photos and a simple message: “Good to be back.” One picture showed him walking easily between teammates Dahl and Prestianni, while the other captured him looking focused, controlling the ball with Dudic nearby. It was clear he was glad to be part of the group again.

The team’s new faces were also out there. Bosnian right-back Dudic and left-back Rafa Obrador, both new signings, looked right at home. They’re working hard to get up to speed. Everyone needs to be ready when the new season kicks off.

Coach Bruno Lage made sure the energy was high, just like the day before. Even with the heat beating down, he demanded sharp intensity and aggressive play throughout the session. The ball was almost always in motion, which the players surely appreciated. Their break was cut short this year, preparing them for big challenges, including the upcoming Club World Cup in the USA.
