“: SCAN”. September 11th, the day the world changed

It was twenty years ago, September 11, 2001. Under the eyes of the whole world, two planes crash into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York (United States). They collapsed a few hours later when two other planes were hijacked. One hits the Pentagon in Washington and the other in Pennsylvania after a fight between pirates and passengers…

These attacks, coordinated by 19 jihadists affiliated with al-Qaeda, caused the deaths of 2,977 people. The United States then plunged into a war on terrorism that would dominate international relations for two decades. This new issue of “: SCAN” magazine traces that tragic day, but also the months and years that followed, until the Taliban’s return to Afghanistan in August 2021.
