SBF wants to start a new company to pay back FTX victims

Unsurprisingly, the reputation of Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the ex-CEO of FTX, has turned 180 degrees after the demise of his crypto exchange. Previously, SBF was known as the darling of the crypto world, but now many see him as a criminal.

You could read earlier that big names such as Elon Musk and Michael Saylor share this opinion and had strongly criticized the way in which the Wall Street Journal had placed SBF in a cautiously positive light at the time. SBF was described in the international newspaper as someone who would like to save the world.

Repay FTX victims

In a recent interview with the BBC SBF indicated that he wants to help the duped customers of FTX:

“I’m going to think about how we can help the world and if the users don’t get much in return, I’m going to think about what I can do for them. At the very least, I think I have a duty to FTX users to do them justice as best I can.”

The ex-CEO also indicated that he would like to start a new company to pay victims of FTX:

“I would give anything to do that. And I’m going to try if I can.”

According to a document filed Nov. 14 in a United States federal court, the crypto exchange may have more than 1 million creditors. Estimates of how much FTX has lost range from $10 billion to $50 billion.

Hearing FTX

Yesterday you could read in the Bitcoin news that next Tuesday SBF will be present at a hearing of the US House Financial Services Committee to investigate the FTX fiasco. Initially, SBF had indicated that he might not show up, but the chairman of the Financial Services Committee had demanded that the former CEO be present.
