Saudi court rules in favor of foreign employees

Riyadh: A Saudi court has given a major verdict in favor of foreign employees. The said foreign employees had filed a collective lawsuit against the local company.

According to the Saudi website, the Riyadh Labor Court ruled against a company in favor of 149 workers from 10 countries and ordered the company to pay financial demands of 28 million riyals.

The foreign employees had filed a collective suit on April 21, 2022, demanding payment of salaries, paid leave and end-of-service dues from the company concerned.

The Riyadh Labor Court had settled the demands of 119 employees on May 12, 2022 and then the remaining 30 employees on May 22, according to Shawwal 21.

In Saudi Arabia, labor courts handle employment contracts, labor, rights and compensation cases for workers injured in the line of duty and resolve employer disciplinary action against the employee.

The Saudi Ministry of Justice is providing employers and tenants with the opportunity to file lawsuits online from the Labor Courts.
