Saudi Arabia wants to break the summer market: 2 billion investments and they are aiming for 5 stars

Arabia Saudí quiere romper el mercado de verano: 2 mil millones de inversión y van por 5 cracks

Saudi negotiators are unfazed by Jordan Henderson's recent departure to Ajax as his departure has no negative impact on the long-term project. In a summer market that promises significant spending across the Saudi league (around £2bn planned), clubs are looking to bolster their ranks with big names.

Two main goals for Saudi clubs are Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah from Liverpool. Both players have attracted interest from clubs such as Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. While De Bruyne has already been contacted, Salah, despite being a persistent target, may not make a move this summer, although Al-Hilal could try again.

Other names on the list of possible additions include Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara, Tottenham captain Son Heung-min and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Although some of these moves could be seen as challenging, past experience suggests that nothing can be ruled out given the financial attractiveness of the Saudi league.

The rule change for the 2024/25 season allows the inclusion of 10 foreign players, with a focus on younger signings. In addition, loans are being considered to establish lasting links with clubs in Europe's five major leagues.

Henderson's departure does not appear to have a negative impact on the Saudi project and the clubs are continuing with their ambitious development plan. Investments in football infrastructure, new stadiums and a focus on young talent indicate a long-term commitment to the growth of football in Saudi Arabia. Although the project needs time to mature, the Saudi league remains committed to its ambitions and does not expect a decrease in spending in the upcoming summer market.
