Saudi Arabia: Record increase in the number of airlines

RIYADH: The number of air travelers in Saudi Arabia increased by 82 percent in a year, with 88 million people traveling in the kingdom.

According to Urdu News, the Saudi Department of Statistics says that more than 88 million people traveled through international and domestic flights during 2022.

The Department of Statistics says that an 82 percent increase in the number of travelers was recorded compared to the year 2021, and a 20 percent increase in the number of airlines during 2022 compared to 2021.

The number of companies reached 1443, including both passenger airline and air cargo.

The number of employees in airlines increased to 34 thousand and increased by 38 percent, among them the number of women is 4 thousand.

The number of flights increased by 41%, the daily average number of flights at international airports was 1313 and the daily average number of flights from domestic airports was recorded at 5.94.

During the year 2022, the busiest airport in terms of passengers was Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, with 32 million passengers.

The number of private flights was recorded at 64 thousand, 41% higher than in 2021.
