Saudi Arabia: Killer gets pardon from victim’s heirs

Riyadh: A man in Saudi Arabia pardoned his nephew’s killer, the killer was awaiting execution in prison.

According to the Saudi website, a Saudi citizen in the city of Tabuk forgave the killer of his nephew, the murder took place 3 years ago and the killer was awaiting execution.

The killer had killed a member of his tribe in a dispute three years ago.

Police arrested the killer and handed him over to the prosecution, from where the case was sent to the criminal court. The court, on conviction, sentenced the killer to death.

Later, the leaders of the tribe approached the heirs of the slain for reconciliation and pardon of the killer, whose efforts proved fruitful.

The victim’s sharia lawyer Muslim Salman Al-Masoodi said that the family members forgave the killer for the sake of Allah and renounced the right of qisas.

The head of the tribe, Muhammad Salman al-Tarfawi, said that the tradition of forgiveness was common in Saudi society. Here, work is done with forgiveness.

Remember that if the heirs of the victim pardon their right then the punishment of qisas is stopped and the killer only has to serve the sentence of imprisonment for different period by the government.
