Saudi Arabia: Bad news for foreigners, new ban imposed

Riyadh: Professional work permits have been banned for employees in the Saudi gold market.

According to Arab media reports, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare has issued new conditions regarding the gold markets in the kingdom, according to which workers must have a professional work permit and only citizens Saudis work in the gold market instead of foreigners.

The report says that the Ministry of Manpower and Social Welfare has made the professional work permit mandatory for those working in the gold market. Without it, they will not be allowed to operate in the gold market.

It will be necessary for workers in the country’s gold and jewelry business centers to obtain professional work permits, otherwise they will not be able to work in the market.

According to the new conditions, a Saudi citizen working in a gold market must have professional skills, the candidate’s safety record must be clear, and the work permit must be valid for one year.

The ban on professional work permits aims to improve the working environment in the gold market.
