Satoransky: “I’m having a hard time”

The beginning of the course of Barça is being quite disappointing. He has played five games, he has won two (semifinals of the Super Cup against Joventut and on the second day of the league against Baskonia) and has lost three (The Super Cup final against Madrid and the debuts in the league against Gran Canaria and yesterday in the Euroleague against Olympiacos). But beyond these results, which are not good, the sensations that the team is leaving may be the worst of all. You can lose by playing well, but Barça is doing it by playing badly.

Missing Mirotic and it is to be hoped that when the team returns, it will take a step forward, but there are problems that the power forward is not going to be able to solve. The squad lacks a top-level physique to compete head-to-head in that area of play against teams like Olympiacos, without going any further. The Sanli, Tobey or Da Silva do not stand out precisely for this, neither was a key player like Laprovittola, and Vesely put his dominant years behind him. Also, Cory Higginsthe other great star of the team and the most decisive player in the hot moments, He has not recovered well from the injury that had him limping all last year and at the moment it is far from its best level.

Another of the star signings of this summer, Tomas Satoransky, too, is having trouble looking at this beginning of the course. As he himself explained in an interview in La Vanguardia, these problems are due to the ankle injury with which he arrived at the Eurobasket and from which it seems that he has not yet recovered: “I’m not one hundred percent, that’s clear. I had a serious ankle injury and we are working to get it back on track. I’m having a hard time because I can’t be at my best physical level and even more so when I have to adapt to a new system like Jasikevicius’s. But in my career I have not achieved anything good without first suffering so I am optimistic “.

The Czech missed two matches in the Eurobasket group stage (the second and the third) that’s why ankle problems, which he was limited to playing 17 minutes in the first. Afterwards, he was in more normal numbers for his importance: 26, 33 and 32 in the round of 16 match against Greece. But all that effort towards his country was done at the expense of his physique. His coach, Ronen Ginzburg, commented that he had not seen anyone play with an ankle in such poor condition, but that Barça would understand if he put it on the line for the Czech Republic. Seeing Satoransky’s performance in these first games (he is the eighth player on the squad in minutes) it is not so clear that Barcelona have understood very well that extra effort in the Eurobasket.
