Two hundred people vaccinated on July 27, at the center of La Flèche (Sarthe), have been recalled in recent weeks following an injection error.
That day, in the morning, seven doses of the vaccine that had been over-diluted were administered, reports West France.
Before use, the vial should be diluted once with physiological saline. However, this operation was carried out twice.
the serum is potentially ineffective
This error does not present any risk to the health of the patients concerned. However, the injected serum is therefore potentially ineffective.
“There is not enough active principle to consider that the vaccine is a real dose”, told our colleagues Dr. Saidi, referring doctor of the vaccination center.
“This is a regrettable error, but without serious consequences,” said the specialist to France Blue, deploring nevertheless “the discomfort and the stress” caused to the patients.
“Our traceability allows us to know that there was a dilution error in the morning,” he explained, but not to identify the people to whom these doses were administered.
four revaccinated patients
Of the 200 residents recalled, 140 showed up to undergo rapid diagnostic orientation tests (TROD), which verify immunity.
For the time being, four of the seven patients affected by this dilution error have been found and then vaccinated again with a normal dose.
