Karachi. Pakistan cricket seems to be back on track after much struggle, in which former Pakistan player Saqlain Mushtaq has a great contribution. Under the leadership of Saqlain Mushtaq, the Pakistan team had traveled to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup held last year. Meanwhile, Saqlain Mushtaq has clearly told the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) that he will not be able to play the role of coach for long.

Mushtaq has told the PCB that he will not be able to assume the position of head coach of the national team full time due to personal commitments. According to a PCB source with knowledge of the matter, Saqlain has informed the head of the board, Rameez Raja, of his inability to assume the position full time. Saqlain has been working with the Pakistan team as interim head coach since last September.

“Saqlain told the president that he is happy to contribute as interim head coach, but will not be able to accept a long-term permanent assignment as head coach because he already has professional and personal commitments.” Saqlain said his business has suffered due to the time the Pakistan team was given as interim head coach, “the source said.

Saqlain was appointed to an interim position with the national team after Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis announced their resignation as head coach and bowling coach after the West Indies tour. Saqlain previously worked as a coach at the Board’s High Performance Center in Lahore.

The source said that Saqlain had told Rameez that he would continue to work as a coach at the ‘High Performance Center’ as he wanted to stay in Lahore. However, it will be available for short tours or series. Both Babar and Saqlain, in their meeting with Rameez, had recommended having a foreign coach with the team. The PCB has already announced five coach positions, including a power hitting coach and a head coach for the High Performance Center.
