Santiago, Santo Domingo and Duarte win two in national U-12 baseball start

The teams from Santiago, Santo Domingo Province and Duarte were successful in their first two games at the opening of the National U-12 Baseball tournament, an event in which 17 provinces participate, which compete for the Robinson Canó Cup.

The Santiago players disposed of San Juan twice with a score of 16 laps for five and 13-3, in the contest that has the presence of 272 children and is organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation, chaired by Juan Núñez Nepomuceno.

Johnny Concepción and Joshua Valdez scored the wins for the winners, while Kelisaro Concepción and Esteban Burgos were the losers. The contest is dedicated to Radhames González, director of the OMSA.

On their side, the Santo Domingo Province won both Altagracia and Barahona with a score of 5-3. Sael Sebastián was the winner, while Randy Castillo and Leonardo Feliz were the losers.

In other matches, Montecristi beat San Pedro de Macorís 11-10, with César D’Oleo winning and Joshua Campos losing. Julián Rosa homered and produced three for the winners, Junior Salas doubled and singled. Juan Carlos Cuevas and Jesús Jiménez gave a double for the defeated.

While Moca beat Montecristi 13-0, Edwarlin Namia achieved the victory and Engel Rodríguez was the loser. In other crashes Monte Plata beat Valverde 7 laps by 6; Duarte beat the National District 7-4 and Puerto Plata 5-1; Samaná beat Bahoruco 10-4.

The event, which takes place in several stadiums in this city, will continue this Saturday with the celebration of the matches of the next round.

Núñez Nepomuceno highlighted the great level that these youngsters have shown, from whose contest the team that will represent the country in the U-12 Baseball World Cup will be selected.
