Santa Clara coach Vasco Matos expressed cautious confidence about his team’s recent performance trajectory as they prepare for a “very balanced” league match against Rio Ave on Sunday.
Matos highlighted his squad’s significant improvement in recent fixtures. He emphasized Santa Clara’s ambition to maintain their positive momentum. The team travels to Vila do Conde for the upcoming encounter.
“Rio Ave is a competent team, with quality and individual quality players too,” Matos stated. “So, it will be an extremely balanced game, but we go with a lot of ambition to do our job and continue what we have been doing in recent games.”
He added that what recent matches have shown is that “the team has had a very great evolution.”
Matos did not confirm the availability of Brazilian center-back MT, who has been sidelined since early October. This absence marks nearly two months for the defender.
“MT, we will see,” Matos said. “He is better, but we still have one more training session. We have those available, and we trust everyone a lot.”
