Sanjay Dutt remembers mother Nargis Dutt on her birthday

Sanjay Dutt got emotional remembering his mother, Nargis, on her birthday. He posted a heartfelt tribute on social media, sharing two black and white photos. One picture shows Sanjay with his parents, Nargis and Sunil Dutt, while the other is from one of Nargis’ films.

Nargis Dutt was a legendary Bollywood actress born on June 1, 1929. She started her film career at the age of five with ‘Talash-E-Haq’ but gained recognition with the 1942 film ‘Tamannaah’. However, it was the 1957 film ‘Mother India’ that made her immortal. Her portrayal of Radha in ‘Mother India’ embodied the quintessential Indian mother, making her an icon in Indian cinema.

Nargis’ journey went beyond acting; she was also a devoted social worker. After stepping back from films, she dedicated herself to social causes, including working with the ‘Spastic Society of India’ for the rights of disabled children. She was also the first patron of this organization and played a significant role in bringing the issue of disability to the national discourse.

In 1980, Nargis was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, making her the second film personality to reach the Parliament after Prithviraj Kapoor. She was also awarded the Padma Shri in 1958 by the Indian government.

On her birthday, Sanjay Dutt’s post touched the hearts of many, proving that the void left by a mother can never be filled. Nargis Dutt’s contributions to the film industry, as well as her social work, will always be remembered. She was not just an actress but an ideal mother, social worker, and an inspirational figure.
