A New Leader Emerges in the Dakar 2025 Motorcycle Category
Daniel Sanders, an Australian rider from KTM, has taken the lead in the motorcycle category of the Dakar 2025. With three consecutive victories, including the prologue and the first two stages, Sanders has established a significant advantage over his competitors.
Sanders’ impressive performance has not gone unnoticed, as he has managed to maintain his lead despite being the first to open the track on the second stage. His main opponent, Ricky Brabec, lost 15 minutes on the second stage, allowing Sanders to extend his lead.
The motorcycle category has historically been highly competitive, but Sanders’ 12-minute advantage over his pursuers is a surprising margin, especially considering that only two stages have been completed.
Schareina’s Endurance
Tosha Schareina, a Honda rider, finished third in the second stage, just four seconds behind the first Honda. In the general classification, Schareina is fourth, 12 minutes and 48 seconds behind the leader, and only 12 seconds behind his teammate, Skyler Howes.
Edgar Canet, a young debutant from KTM, completed a meritorious stage, finishing as the winner of the Rally 2 category and in the absolute top 10. In the general standings, Canet is one step away from entering the top 10, but for now, he remains in 11th place.
The third stage of the Dakar 2025 will take place between Bisha and Al Henakiyah, with the usual format, where motorcycles will leave in front of cars and share the route. The stage will feature 496 kilometers of timed racing.
