San Pablo falls and will not be able to repeat the title

Hereda San Pablo Burgos fell in the third final match against Turkish Darussafaka (68-80) and will not be able to repeat their triumph in the Champions League this season in a match that did not have real options at any time despite the fact that the team left in the last quarter everything to win the game but the success in the final moments of the Turks was decisive.

Darussafaka was more convincing at the start of the match and it took a lot for San Pablo to get into the match, although in defense they improved compared to the previous match, which made them soon get ahead with a good contribution from the inside game, with Landry Nnoko becoming owner of the painting in his debut on the Burgos court, but the final errors tied the fourth (16-16).

The shot from outside gave San Pablo chances after the break, but Alex Renfroe’s entry destabilized the team’s play and once again the turnovers plagued the game from Burgos while Selçuk Emak’s team was placed with a very favorable +9. Dani Díez took a step forward in scoring when the team suffered the most, making up the Burgos game that was not the best for a life or death match for both (54-61).

Paco Olmos’ team changed the script completely looking for victory, a 10-0 in their favor led them to dominate the scoreboard for the first time since the first quarter (66-64), but Darussafaka knew better how to play the following minutes and recovered an advantage that was extended as the minutes passed, leaving in a mirage that step forward that the Burgos team had taken. San Pablo did not give up but despite the effort they did not get the comeback and will not be able to defend the double European crown this season.
