The San Francisco Giants activated outfielder/infielder LaMonte Wade Jr. from the 10-day roster. To make room for him on the roster, the San Francisco club sent Dominican infielder/receiver Yermin Mercedes to Triple-A Sacramento.
Wade had appeared in only 10 games this season due to a left knee injury, but he is ready to see action with the big team after receiving a series of injections of synthetic cushioning for the joints.
He hasn’t played in the majors since May 18, but is 6-for-23 with a home run in seven games of a rehab assignment in Sacramento.
For his part, Mercedes played two games in his first stay with the Giants and went 1-4 with two strikeouts.
