San Fernando falls to Sabadell with a controversial arbitration

An unfair defeat for San Fernando in a match in which they deserved to win at least one point. A solitary goal from Kaxe in the 62nd minute gave Sabadell the victory. However, Nacho’s team did not lower their arms and scored two goals, the work of Pedro Benito, who was celebrating his birthday, but they were canceled for offside. In the first there was an illegal position, but in the second goal Francis Ferrón was offside, who did not intervene in the play. That unleashed the anger of players and fans. With this result, San Fernando is in fifth position and Sabadell climbs positions to ninth.

San Fernando started very well. In just four minutes the island team had their first chance through Pedro Benito, the birthday boy. A great pass from Bicho left the man from Cádiz unmarked, but Bernard managed to put an end to the action before the striker could finish the play. Shortly after, Juanmi Callejón appeared to head the ball to the far post after a good cross from Cortés, but the ball went wide.

After several attempts by San Fernando, Sabadell’s first approach came after a recovery by Aarón Rey, but his center did not find a finisher and the attack came to nothing. The Catalan team was being overtaken by Nacho’s men. Now it was Calderón who tried it in front of goal. It was a constant siege that the Cadiz team carried out. A quarter of an hour into the match Pedro Benito had it again and now he was even closer to scoring the first goal of the match. However, Guillem Molina appeared to put an end to the striker’s hopes.

Twenty minutes into the game was when Sabadell woke up and also joined the attack with a little more insistence. Muguruza and Diego Caballo dared with long shots on goal. But the one who was closest to the goal and, in fact, nobody in the stadium could believe that the ball had not entered, was Kaxe. With goalkeeper Perales already on the ground, Juan Rodríguez appeared to save under the sticks when the ball was about to cross the goal line.

Already in the final minutes of the first half, Kaxe tried again for the Catalans and Callejón for the Andalusians, but neither was successful in their shots and the match went into halftime with the score 0-0. He started very well in San Fernando and kept up a good line for the first 45 minutes. For its part, Sabadell was cornered for many phases in the first half, but had the clearest chance through Kaxe.

The second half began with a goal by Pedro Benito that the referee annulled for offside by his teammate Juanmi Callejón. The move between Cortés and Callejón that the Cadiz striker finished was good, but the goal did not go up to the scoreboard in the end. In response to this move, Sabadell starred in the first chance of the second half with a header from Jacobo.

The game had already entered a different dynamic than the first half. The comings and goings gave emotion to a meeting that had been matched in all aspects. Both teams had the goal equally close. They tried alternately, but the lack of aim and luck sometimes made the light not change.

Finally, the one that conquered the goal first was Sabadell. Good move by the Catalans who, after a great cross from Diego Caballo, which Kaxe finished off perfectly to raise the first goal on the scoreboard. The footballer retaliated after failing to score in the first half. After the goal, the San Fernando coach moved the bench. Nacho brought on Biabiany and Francis Ferrón for Carbó and Agüero to seek a comeback.

The goal made Sabadell gain even more confidence and the second goal came close in the 68th minute after a shot by Jacobo after a cross from Dani Sánchez. For its part, San Fernando grabbed the set piece that Juanmi Callejón is so good at. The island team’s second disallowed goal came from a free-kick. No one understood it in the Ibero-American. And it is that, indeed, Francis Ferrón was in an offside position at the time Callejón took the free kick, however, it does not seem that the footballer touched the ball, the one who did it was Pedro Benito to send the ball to the back of the net for the second time and, again, so that it did not go up to the scoreboard. Nacho’s team was desperate.

In the final minutes, Sabadell kept trying to widen the gap, but was unsuccessful. For its part, San Fernando no longer had more chances to score. Of course, the nerves and the feeling of injustice after Ferrón’s second goal disallowed for offside when he did not touch the ball, were palpable until the last second. Even the referee team was fired with whistles by the local fans. The island team is in fifth position with 45 points and, for its part, Sabadell rises to ninth place with 40 points in the absence of the end of the day.
