Samuel Carmona (8-1-0, 4 KO) touched his dream of becoming a world champion. The canary faced Julius Caesar King Martínez for the World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight belt in December of last year, and fell by majority decision in Arizona, United States. He put up a lot of war during the fight, and most importantly, he fought from the second round with a broken right hand and held on until the end. Now fully recovered, he wants a rematch. “Don’t I deserve a rematch? Or is the reality that you and your team are afraid of what might happen?” Carmona told the Mexican.
Samuel Carmona was very close to the possibility of becoming world champion. The WBC ordered the defense of the flyweight title of the King Martínez against the canaryin a fight that would be part of the billboard of the closing of the trilogy of the Mexican Juan Francisco Rooster Estrada (43-3-0, 28 KO) and the Nicaraguan Román little chocolate González (51-3-0, 41 KO) for the super flyweight belt. Led by his coach, Carlos Formento, and his team, the Spaniard came to the United States for all.
The lawsuit was closed, Carmona gave it his all in the ring from start to finish. But his performance changed from the second round. The canary broke his right hand in the second round, but endured until the end with the injury, and leaving a good image in the ring. He couldn’t get the win, as he fell to points via majority decision.
Carmona had to undergo surgery due to the injury to his right hand. Now, he is fully recovered and wants revenge. “With a broken hand, I was able to face you without my hand shaking. Now I have both hands perfect and ready to face you again. Don’t I deserve a rematch? Or is the reality that you and your team are afraid of what might happen? Decide date and place. Let the whole world know that I am waiting for you”, the canary challenged King Martínez.
But the Mexican seems to be that he is not very interested in a second meeting, and this has been made known to the Spaniard through some private messages. “Do you have a belt? No, right? So, who are you?”, Rey Martínez replied to his proposal. Carmona is clear, he deserves that revenge. “I beat you with one handYou know I’m a better boxer than you. Don’t you say you’re not afraid? We are going to fight, I am going to take your belt away from you”, assured the canary. “When you have another belt, let me know”, sentenced the Mexican. A rematch that would once again hook Spanish boxing fans to televisions.
