Samsung has updated its list of smartphones and tablets for which it releases security updates. For example, the Galaxy A51 introduced in 2019 no longer receives updates. For some other devices the support cycle has changed.

This is what Samsung’s update model looks like
Samsung provides monthly, quarterly or semi-annual firmware security updates for its smartphones and tablets, depending on the model. For select devices released in 2019 or later, Samsung will provide firmware security updates for at least four years after their global release. Other selected newer devices even receive security updates for up to five years, as the South Koreans promise. Samsung even wants to release updates for the Galaxy S24 for seven years.

The monthly, quarterly and semi-annual security updates include patches released by Google for Android OS-related security issues as well as patches for Samsung-specific security issues.
Your Samsung device no longer receives security updates? You can do that
Samsung itself claims that older devices that no longer receive security updates would still be safe. Thanks to Samsung’s own security solution “Knox”. But you shouldn’t rely on that.
