Samsung Teases Apple’s Liquid Glass Design and AI Features

Apple just unveiled its new design language, “Liquid Glass,” at WWDC. It’s part of the upcoming iOS 26 update. But Samsung wasn’t about to let Apple have all the attention. They piped up on Twitter/X with some cheeky comments.

Samsung pointed out that their own design overhaul, One UI 7, has had a glass-like look since earlier this year. It’s interesting to see the similarities between the two.

Samsung’s got a point

The Apple Watch just got some new AI features, including a workout companion. But Samsung’s Galaxy Watch already has AI-powered features like smart message replies and sleep/energy analysis. Samsung feels pretty confident in saying their watch “already knows when you’re too tired to care.”

What’s new, what’s not

Some of the new features in Apple’s updates seem to be inspired by Android. For example, the new call screening and wait time features look a lot like what’s already available on Google Pixel phones since 2018. It’s not the first time Apple has taken cues from Android, and it’s likely they’ll put their own spin on these features.

Apple’s also adding live translation to apps like Messages, FaceTime, and Phone. But Samsung’s already been doing this with their Galaxy S24 series since last year, and it’s been rolled out to other Galaxy devices too. It’s clear Samsung is feeling pretty smug about being ahead of the curve on some of these features.
