Samsung introduces the Exynos W920, the first 5nm recorded SoC for connected watches

Samsung unveiled the Exynos W920 ahead of its Unpacked conference on August 11th. This new processor is the first engraved in 5mm and dedicated to connected clocks. It should equip the Galaxy Watch 4, which would be announced during Keynote.

Samsung’s Unpacked conference on August 11 will be an opportunity to discover the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Z Flip 3, but also the new Buds 2. We shouldn’t forget the new Galaxy Watch 4. The latter would be equipped with any new processor that the manufacturer officially announced before this conference. This is the Exynos W920.

Exynos W920 is the first SoC recorded in 5mm and dedicated to connected clocks. It is equipped with a 5G modem, but also an ARM Cortex M55 core specially dedicated to the always-on-view mode. Samsung thus evokes a processor that will allow the watch to last seven days without recharging and make your new OS work perfectly.

The SoC has two ARM Cortex A55 cores as well as a Mali G68 GPU. It’s capable of displaying a maximum resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (which is pretty good for a small watch screen) and it’s more powerful up to 20% compared to the Exynos 9110 that fitted the old Galaxy Watch.

But the main quality of the processor is the fact that it is extremely compact, for example, combining 4G and the GPS chip in a single component, as well as RAM and storage. This allows for much more flexibility in designing the design. Anyway, the Galaxy Watch 4 would be the first smartwatch to feature it, but we may see the Exynos W920 in other products in the future.

The Galaxy Watch 4 would be available in two versions: a normal and a “classic”, classier. It should focus on its design, but also its new operating system, which we hope will be as efficient as it is easy to use. Respond tomorrow at the annual builder’s conference. I’m not sure, however, that Samsung takes too long on their watches, as they will undoubtedly be the smartphones that will carry all the light during the event.
