Giant South Korean tech giant Samsung has unveiled a new NFT platform. The company wants to integrate this platform into its smart televisions.
Increasing Demand for NFTs
Globally, there is a huge increase in demand for NFTs. This trend has been going on for several months now. Samsung now sees this as an opportunity to come up with a solution for this.
The tech giant wants to introduce their first Smart TV with NFT Explorer in 2022. This new platform allows users to browse various NFTs and also trade them directly.
It is not yet known exactly which NFT platforms or marketplaces will be included in Samsung’s integration. However, the tech giant has promised that its smart TVs won’t mess with picture quality, preserving the NFT maker’s preset values.
Investments in NFT and Metaverse
While the tech giant is making it clear that it is entering the NFT world, it has also made multiple investments in the NFT market and in a number of Metaverse projects. This through its venture capital division called Samsung Next. The tech giant has, among other things, participated in a funding round of a Metaverse Gaming platform.
Samsung is certainly not the only company that has entered the NFT world in recent months. Various large-scale companies have now entered this world, including Coca Cola and Visa.
Sales of digital art and digital NFT sales therefore dominated last year. Together they represent 91% of total NFT sales. As sales continue to rise, more and more NFT and Metaverse companies are raising significant sums to fund their projects. It is currently unknown whether this trend will continue for a long time or not.
