The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is shaping up to be one of the thinnest foldable smartphones on the market. According to Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, the device will measure just 8.9mm when folded and 3.9mm when open.
To put that into perspective, the current thinnest foldable, the OPPO Find N5, is 8.9mm thick when folded and 4.2mm when open. So the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be thinner when open. This represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, which is 12.1mm thick when folded and 5.6mm when open. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, a variant exclusive to China and South Korea, is also thicker at 10.6mm and 4.9mm respectively.
Key Features
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is also expected to pack a 4,400mAh battery, as confirmed by UL Demko, a Danish certification agency.
- Another tipster, Tarun Vats, claims the device will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset with a maximum clock speed of 4.47 GHz, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite ‘For Galaxy’ variant.
- SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will run on One UI 8, built on top of Android 16, making it one of the first devices to feature the new software.
