Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be dust resistant

Samsung prepares a new asset for the new generation of its folding smartphones. Indeed, everything indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have anti-dust certification.

A new rumor is circulating in the mainstream media and claims that these devices will be released with IP58 certification. This means that in addition to being resistant to dust, they will also be resistant to water.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be even more resistant

The presence of the IPX8 certification in the previous generation was a great novelty for equipment that has several moving parts inside. However, it lacked resistance to dust which, as we know, can compromise the integrity of these products.

Fortunately, this year Samsung is expected to include this certification in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. In other words, these devices will be even more prepared for adverse environments that may compromise the integrity of their components.

The IP58 certification means that the new Samsung foldables will have a limited certification against the ingress of dust. They still don’t measure up to their top-of-the-range IP68 certification, but it’s an excellent addition.

I remember that the original Samsung Galaxy Z Fold faced several problems with the integrity of its components precisely because of the ingress of dust. This phenomenon caused many screens to break and generated numerous complaints from users.

Since then, the South Korean has placed brushes inside the hinge of its foldables precisely to prevent dust from entering the smartphone. A strategy that was successful and that now takes on new relevance with the presence of the IP58 certification.

I want to stress that Samsung will not be the first to include this type of certification on its foldable smartphones. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra recently launched with IP52 certification, but it lags behind Samsung’s rivals in terms of water resistance.
