Although the Galaxy S23 Ultra is packed with good photo components and specific optical features, Samsung wants more from its flagship in this field. And, apparently, the model will soon get a 2x zoom on its portrait sensor.

The information comes through the Ice Universe leaker, which is based on a firmware that is still being tested and that includes this functionality that could reach the high-end smartphone in a short time.

According to information released by the well-known leaker, the 2x zoom will use a 50-megapixel cutout from the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s main camera, which has a 200-megapixel resolution.

Remember that this camera currently has 1x and 3x zoom. Now the new 2x mode joins the existing options and will allow you to give portraits with better image quality.

The update that includes the new 2x mode is not yet available, but is expected to arrive between the end of this month and the beginning of June.

According to the same source, said update is around 1.5 GB in size and could bring with it other improvements in the camera department. However, it is not clear if the new features will make their way to other models in Samsung’s high-end series.
