Samsung has quietly launched a new Galaxy Book 5 Edge laptop in the United Kingdom, distinguished by its integrated 5G connectivity and a dedicated button for Microsoft’s Copilot AI features.
This model is the sole device in its series to offer 5G network support via a SIM card. Its introduction marks a strategic shift for Samsung, incorporating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) processor.
The 4-nanometer chip features an 8-core CPU running at up to 3.0 GHz and Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 graphics. The inclusion of a quick-access button for Microsoft Copilot underscores a growing industry focus on on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.
The laptop appeared on Samsung’s UK website without a major announcement, initially priced at 949 British Pounds, or approximately 1,200 USD.
The device comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS LCD anti-glare display. Weighing approximately 1.66 kilograms and measuring 15.5 millimeters thin, it emphasizes portability despite its large screen.
Audio is enhanced with Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers. Internal hardware includes 16 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of eUFS storage.
The laptop is equipped with a 61.2 Wh battery, supporting up to 27 hours of video playback. Super Fast Charging allows a charge from 0% to 43% in just 30 minutes with a 65 W adapter.
Connectivity options extend to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, alongside the headline 5G (Sub6 frequency band) support. Port selection includes two USB 4.0 ports, one USB 3.2 (Type-A) port, and an HDMI 2.1 port capable of 4K video output at 60 frames per second.
Samsung Knox security software is pre-installed to protect personal data. The laptop is available in a Sapphire Blue color with 512 GB of storage.
It remains unclear when Samsung plans to expand the availability of the Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G to other global markets.
