More and more sources realize that Samsung is preparing to develop a new folding smartphone with a more affordable price. We are talking about the alleged Galaxy A Fold that aims to bring this format to the masses.
We can say that this is an entry-level folding smartphone, with some compromises that allow it to reduce its price. And to further clarify the concept, lo and behold, the ET News post reveals the expected values.
Samsung’s cheapest foldable could start at €735
The source claims that the alleged Samsung Galaxy A Fold will have a tag of 1 million won, which is around €735. It is important to note that this value results from a direct conversion of the values that Samsung may apply in its home market.
Unfortunately, the expansion of this product to international markets will result in an increase in its retail price. However, if it does not exceed €800, it will be a very interesting value for a folding smartphone.
The values that ET News now advances corroborate previous speculation that had realized that Samsung’s most affordable folding could be around $800. A value significantly lower than that practiced in current Korean folding.
The source also adds that Samsung is preparing more affordable versions for its Fold and Flip line. In fact, it is possible that the Galaxy A Flip could cost even less and further democratize this format welcomed by consumers.
As for the launch schedule of these products, this should only happen in 2024. This is, at least, Samsung’s goal considering the current state of development of its new products.
To achieve such values, Samsung will remove some less essential details from its foldable smartphones. Although little is known about the subject, it is speculated that one of the sacrifices is the substitution of ultra-thin glass for plastic on the screen of smartphones.
Samsung’s main objective for the development of these devices is to increase its share of the foldable smartphone market. By making them more accessible, the South Korean hopes that more users will decide to enter this segment.
