Canalys analysts have already shared the latest report on global smartphone shipments/sales. This one shows who dominated in the last quarter of 2022, but also gives an overview of the entire year.
Overall, the market fell 17% in sales in the last quarter of the year, compared to the same period last year. And even for the full year, sales were down 11%, totaling nearly 1.2 billion units sold.
Unsurprisingly, Samsung led the way through 2022 with a 22% market share. But Apple was not far behind, amassing a 19% market share.
The one that distanced itself the most from the leadership position was Xiaomi, which achieved a 13% market share this year. The TOP 5 is closed by Oppo and Vivo with a 9% market share. The rest of the manufacturers continue with a 28% market share.
Apple led the mobile market in the last quarter of 2022
As usual, during the fourth quarter it was Apple that led the mobile segment. With a market share of 25%, the Cupertino manufacturer grew 2% compared to the same period last year.
It was followed by Samsung with 20% and Xiaomi with 11%. In this last quarter, Oppo stepped on its heels to third place, with a 10% market share. Vivo closes the TOP 5 with an 8% market share. In this quarter, the remaining brands had a 26% market share.
We will see if 2023 reserves the maintenance of Samsung’s leadership, or if Apple will be able to go further.
