On its Galaxy S smartphones, Samsung has been providing hybrid (digital and optical) zoom capabilities for some time now. But recently some users noticed failures in the camera application of these smartphones, whenever they activated the 30x zoom.

The problem seems to only affect certain Galaxy S models, which does not include the latest Galaxy S23 models. But the South Korean giant has already publicly acknowledged the problem and is already working on a solution to correct this error.

The brand guarantees that the fix will arrive in a future software update, but does not give a specific date for its availability, it only says that the problem will be fixed next April.

According to known reports, the device works fine when zoomed up to 28.8x. But as soon as the 30x zoom is requested, the system crashes.

Users suffering from this problem have tried the usual solutions like clearing the cache and data of the app and also resetting the default settings. However, none of these “tricks” managed to obtain a positive result.

An error appeared after upgrading to One UI 5.1

A very relevant fact is that this problem only appeared after users updated to One UI 5.1 from Samsung, based on the Android 13 operating system.
